Frequently Asked Questions

What does an ENT doctor do?

An ENT doctor is specially trained to treat disorders of the head and neck in both children and adults. This includes problems of the ears, nose, throat, and sinuses. Some conditions are best treated medically and others with surgery. Our doctors will guide you through this process.

How long does it take to get an appointment with one of our doctors?

We pride ourselves on being available and responsive to our patients. We can almost always accommodate appointment requests within 24 to 48 hrs.

Can I request an appointment online or after hours?

Yes. Once an online request is made, you can expect a call from one of our schedulers the following morning when the office opens.

What do I need to bring to my initial appointment?

You will need to bring your ID, insurance card, and any relevant referral information. Filling out your New Patient Form (available online) ahead of time is encouraged and will expedite check-in.

What do I need to do before surgery?

The night before surgery you will need to avoid eating or drinking anything after midnight. You will also need to stop aspirin-containing products and other blood-thinners one week before surgery. The surgery center or hospital will contact you a day or two before surgery to give you a suggested arrival time.

Does Austin ENT Associates offer in-office sinuplasty?

Yes. This is a new treatment for patients with chronic sinus problems. You may be a candidate for sinuplasty or other in-office procedure. Ask your doctor.

How do I get in touch with the doctor after hours?

Our doctors are available after hours for emergencies or postoperative issues. They can be reached through MedLink at (512)660-6359.
