John R. Austin, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Austin graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1982 and attended the University of Utah where he received his medical degree in 1986. Dr. Austin completed his surgical internship and specialty training at the University of Southern California-Los Angeles County Medical Center. He finished his training as a Head & Neck Surgical Oncology fellow at the prestigious University of Texas-MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Austin remained at MD Anderson as an Assistant Professor from 1991-1995. While on the faculty at MD Anderson, he authored numerous articles on head and neck surgery. Dr. Austin joined Austin ENT Associates in 1995. He is certified by both the American Board of Otolaryngology and by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. His practice emphasizes facial plastic and reconstructive surgery in addition to general otolaryngology.

Daniel J. Ratcliff, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Ratcliff was born and raised in Austin. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Austin and completed his medical degree at the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. After a General Surgery Internship at Parkland Memorial Hospital, he remained at UT-Southwestern and Parkland Memorial Hospital to complete a total of six years of research and Otolaryngology training in 2003. Dr. Ratcliff returned home to Austin in 2007 after several years of private practice in Santa Fe, NM. His medical research has been selected for publication as well as presentation at national meetings. He is board certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery as well as the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy.

Peter D. Scholl, D.D.S., M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Scholl attended the University of Texas at Austin and completed his undergraduate studies in 1974. Subsequently, he obtained a dental degree from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston. After a year in private practice, he began his medical education at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Scholl completed his internship at the University of Texas at Houston affiliated hospitals, including Herman Hospital. His specialty training was done at the University of Colorado at Denver, including a year at Denver’s Children’s Hospital. He then went on to complete a fellowship in Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Scholl has been in private practice in Austin since 1986. Dr. Scholl is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology and is a member of the American Head and Neck Surgery Society.

Jeffrey S. Zapalac, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Zapalac received his medical degree from the University of Texas-Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Upon completion of his internship in General Surgery and his residency training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, he returned to Austin to join Austin Ear, Nose, and Throat Associates. Dr. Zapalac is certified by the American Board of Otolaryngology. He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the American Head and Neck Society. Dr. Zapalac has published articles in national peer-reviewed journals regarding various topics related to the head and neck.
